On the 18th July:
On a sound recording trip to the Picos de Europa Mountains in Northwest Spain.
A visit to New Passage where in with the 200+ Black-headed Gulls, by the edge of the estuary, was an adult Mediterranean Gull and a Black Tern, when a Kestrel flew over the tern began to mob it, chasing it around for a couple of minutes before the Kestrel moved off, none of the other birds paid any notice to the falcon, strange that the tern did.
At Black Rock Quarry in Portishead there were 4 Peregrines, a Kestrel, a Buzzard and 2 Ravens.
A visit to Slimbridge where there were 8 Green Sandpipers, lots of Chiffchaffs and Reed Warblers, a Whitethroat, Blackcaps, 2 Common Terns, lots of Avocets many with chicks, 20+ Oystercatchers, 50+ Lapwings, 80+ Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Ruff, 20+ Redshank, 20+ Dunlin, a pair of Cranes with a well grown chick, a Cuckoo and a Water Shrew which ran across the path in-front of me by the Rushy Hide.
