
On the 20th November:
1976
A visit to the Severn foreshore at Frampton seeing 2 Goldeneye, 12 Teal, a Red-breasted Merganser, 1,000+ Dunlin, 50+ Redshank, 20 Shelduck, 9 Curlew, 16 White-fronted Geese, 2 Rock Pipits, 31 Redwings and c240 Fieldfares.
1977
Still in East Anglia we started at Salthouse where along the beach road we saw c80 Snow Buntings, c20 Lapland Buntings, c70 Twite, c40 Skylarks and a Glaucous Gull.
Then we went to Wells where in the harbour we saw 18 Goldeneyes and c600 Brent Geese. Near and in the woods there were 2 Waxwings, 4 Willow Tits, a Woodcock, 2 Siskins, Redpolls and 18 Bullfinches.
1982
An overnight drive to West Cornwall, to Nanquidno Valley to see a Varied Thrush, a new bird for us and a 1st British record. Seen well and on view most of the time. Also seen were 5 Firecrests, a Chiffchaff, a Black Redstart and a Peregrine.

1988
In Madagascar on a BBC sound recording trip, 2 new birds, a 5 mammals and 2 new reptiles seen today.

1995
In Norfolk with Pete Fraser to sound record waders. On the pools at Snettisham there were 4 Little Auks, c130 Little Grebes, Great Crested Grebes and lots of duck. On the mud-flats 1,000's of Pink-footed Geese, c7500 Golden Plover, c35,000 Knot, 6 Sanderling, 500+ Oystercatchers, c20 Turnstones, Curlew, Lapwing, 100's of Wigeon, Shelducks and on the rising tide Red-breasted Mergansers.
1996
In Central France on a sound recording trip.
2005
A drive south to West Huntspill seeing a Little Egret on the river and a Richard's Pipit in the grass along the sea bank.
