On the 7th December:
1975
In Kent at Bewl Bridge Reservoir where there were only common duck. Then we went to nearby Bedgebury Pinetum where there were 10+ Hawfinches, a large flock of Chaffinches which contained over 200 Bramblings, Redpolls and lots of Mistle Thrushes and Blackbirds.
1980
A trip to Dawlish Warren where the highlights were 200+ Common Scoter, 11 Velvet Scoter, 7 Eider, 7 Slavonian Grebes, 2 Great Northern Divers, 5 Razorbills, c1000 Wigeon, a Black Redstart, c25 Red-breasted Mergansers, c1000 Brent Geese and lots of waders including 17 Grey Plovers. Up the estuary at Exminster we saw 16 Avocets.
1988
In Kenya, on a BBC sound recording trip, no new birds seen today.

In Looe visiting friends, Neil and Ella Hipkiss, on a brief visit to the Looe River saw 6+ Little Egrets, 40+ Curlew, several Oystercatchers and Redshank and a Common Sandpiper.
