On the 4th August:
1978
A walk in Leigh Woods seeing 2 pairs of Spotted Flycatchers, a Marsh Tit and over the woods c800 Swifts.
1979
A visit to Chew Valley Lake where the best was a Little Ringed Plover at the Dam, a Greenshank at Twycross and a fledged Cuckoo being fed by a Dunnock along the East Shore.
1986
In Ecuador escorting a wildlife tour, 3 new birds seen today.
1997
On a sound recording trip to Italy, to Stelvio National Park in the Alps.

A visit to New Passage/Northwick Warth where there were a few waders, the best being a Common Sandpiper, also saw a Kingfisher and a Tree Pipit.
2021
Watched a juvenile Green Woodpecker feeding on the lawn by patio.
