On the 14th March:

1976

A trip to the New Forest, on a walk along Hampton Ridge we saw a male and 2 female Dartford Warblers, also hearing a few more. Continuing to Beaulieu Road we saw around 10 Crossbills, new birds for us. and on a walk from Pig Bush car park we saw a Woodlark, hearing another.

1986

In Pakistan, no new birds, but 2 new mammals today.

1990

In Kenya in Sokoke Forest, 1 new bird and 1 new reptile today.

1993

Back in the New Forest to record Mandarin Ducks, where there were 3 males and 2 females today, also of note on the pool was a Pintail and a Pochard. In other parts of the forest visited during the day, other good birds seen were Marsh Tit, Treecreeper, 7 Woodlarks, a Hawfinch and Stonechats.

1996

The previous evening we had driven from Nottingham to Norfolk to stay at Paul Johnson's place in a hamlet near the North Norfolk coast, in the morning we saw 5 Mealy/Common Redpolls at Langham and a Barn Owl near Glandford. At Holkham there were lots of Brent, Pink-footed and Greylag Geese and at Stanhoe an Egyptian Goose.

We spent the rest of the day at Titchwell, where notable birds were 2 Avocets, a Black-winged Stilt, Sanderling, Bar-tailed Godwits and Common Scoters.
