On the 18th December:

1977

An overnight drive to St. Ives in Cornwall, where in the bay was the bird we had come to see, a 1st winter Laughing Gull, also there, was a 1st winter Iceland Gull, both new birds for us.

Also seen were 5 Great Northern Divers, 2 Eiders, c40 Turnstone, a Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Razorbills, lots of Gannets, 2 Kittiwakes, 2 Little Gulls, 2 Ravens, a Grey Wagtail and several Rock Pipits.

Later, in Carbis Bay there were another 2 Great Northern Divers and 2 Slavonian Grebes.

Common or Brown Noddy.

A visit to Portbury Wharf where the highlights were 12 Bullfinches, 3 Water Rails, a male Ring-necked Duck and 2 Stonechats.

2012

In the garden in Portishead were 3 Blackcaps, then at Battery Point I saw a Purple Sandpiper and 4 Turnstone.
