On the 6th April:

1980

Overnight on Portland, in the morning a seawatch where the best were 59 Common Scoter, 2 Red-throated Divers and on the rocks 20 Purple Sandpipers. In the harbour from Ferrybridge we saw a Black-throated Diver, and, at Lodmoor the best was an adult Little Gull and 3 Greenshank.

1984

Co-leading a joint Wingspan/Ibis and Bristol Ornithological Club tour to Cyprus. 2 new birds seen today.

1985

In Israel, three new birds today. 

1997

A drive to Burnham-on-Sea, where in a small pool in Apex Gardens there was a male Little Bittern, being so close it gave excellent views and appeared to be a 1st summer bird, it was very active, climbing reeds, flying a couple of times and was seen to catch and swallow a large Roach. Also seen were 2 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Sand Martins, a Great Crested Grebe and a Chiffchaff.

2005

At Severn Beach where it was still windy, seeing a flock of c50 Kittiwakes.

2013

Finally got around to going to see the Pied-billed Grebe at Ham Wall, which had been there sometime. Also there, lots of Chiffchaffs, c40 Wigeon and I heard a Bittern. Also see here

2017

A brief visit to Slimbridge where I saw one 1st summer Little Gull again.

Then I spent most of the rest of the day in the Forest of Dean seeing a Willow Warbler, lots of Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps, several Nuthatches, tits, 5 male and 2 female Mandarin Ducks, Ravens, Tufted Ducks, Little Grebes, a pair of Gadwall, a Great Crested Grebe, a female Goosander, finches, 2 Grey Wagtails, 2 Sparrowhawks, a Buzzard, a Treecreeper, Grey Squirrels, 4 Stock Doves, 4 Siskins, a Redpoll and a Red Admiral.
