On the 27th September:
1975
A drive to Cornwall, hoping to get the helicopter from Penzance to the Isles of Scilly, but it was full, the earliest we could go was first flight on the 29th. So, we went to Stithians Reservoir where the best was a Wood Sandpiper, a Curlew Sandpiper and 3 Little Stints. At the Hayle Estuary, more waders including 5 Curlew Sandpipers. Then we went to St. Ives where on the sea we saw Kittiwakes and Fulmars, 6 Razorbills, 10+ Manx Shearwaters and 2 Arctic Skuas.
1980
A drive to Cornwall, to Davidstow Airfield to see a Baird's Sandpiper, a new bird for us.
Also seen was a Buff-breasted Sandpiper, 9 Ruff, a Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plovers, c80 Lapwing and 4 Ravens.
Then we drove to St. Just Airfield to see an American Golden Plover and a Tawny Pipit, but neither were seen!
We went to Stithians Reservoir where still there were the Semipalmated Sandpiper and Pectoral Sandpiper.

A trip to Portland where apart from the usual seabirds, we saw 3 Pied Flycatchers, a Redwing, 7 Whinchats, 6 Wheatears, 4 Stonechats, 2 Redstarts and a Spotted Flycatcher.

On a filming and sound recording trip to Zimbabwe, 1 new bird seen today.
2009
A visit to New Passage for a reported Semipalmated Sandpiper, but it had gone! However, did see an adult Mediterranean Gull.
