
1978
A drive north to Eckington Bridge in Worcestershire, where there were 3 pairs of Marsh Warblers, lots of other warblers including Lesser Whitethroats and 2 Cuckoos.
On the way back we stopped at Frampton, on the foreshore the only bird of note was a Cuckoo, on a walk around the lakes there were lots of Reed Warblers and an adult and 2 immature Willow Tits.

In Colorado on a sound recording trip for the BBC series 'Land of the Eagle'. 1 new bird seen today.

In Kazakhstan on a Sound Recording trip for the BBC series 'Realms of the Russian Bear'.

In northwest Spain on a sound recording trip to the Picos de Europa mountains, 1 new bird seen today.
2000
A trip around the North Somerset Levels, at Westhay there were 5 species of warblers and a Cuckoo, at Shapwick there were 8 species of warblers, quite a few duck mainly Gadwall, 7 Hobbys, a Black-necked Grebe, c10 Buzzards, a Roe Deer, 2 Little Egrets and 2 Redshank.
2016
A visit to Portbury Wharf with Roy Smith, where the best bird was a Little Ringed Plover.
2019
Leaving Skye a drive north to Ullapool to stay with Andy Williams, reaching his place around lunchtime. In the afternoon Andy took me to his local patch, Glen Achall a private estate, where we saw 2 Black-throated Divers, 6 Ravens, 2 Hooded Crows, Meadow Pipits, 2 Tree Pipits, Willow Warblers, 2 Cuckoos with at least another 3 heard, a Spotted Flycatcher, lots of Common Sandpipers, Sand Martins, 2 male Ring Ouzels, 2 Oystercatchers, Redpolls, a Mistle Thrush, a female Goosander, a male Reed Bunting, Grey Wagtails, Wheatears, a Ringed Plover and 14 Golden Plovers.
