On the 26th March:

1978

On a seawatch on Hilbre we saw 2 Goldeneye, 2 Red-throated Divers, a Great Crested Grebe, 6 Kittiwakes and a raft of 40+ Scaup. Also watched as the masses of waders and gulls came into roost.

In Belize, 8 new birds seen today.

2004

A visit to Battery Point at high tide where there were 3 Purple Sandpipers, 4 Rock Pipits and 3 Chiffchaffs.

2005

A visit to Aust Warth where I watched and filmed a pair of Meadow Pipits doing, what I thought was, a courtship display.

They were crouching, bobbing and bowing, sometimes tail raising while running around on a concrete block on the foreshore.

Later, I read through the behaviour section in BWP and there it describes this as a pair-bonding dance.
