On the 1st August:

1976

A day trip to Suffolk, on the way seeing a Stoat and a Tawny Owl. In the Poplar Wood at Lakenheath we saw 2 adult Long-eared Owls with 2 juveniles, 3 Whitethroats, 2 Cuckoos, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, several Turtle Doves and around 14 Golden Orioles, new birds for us. On the way home we stopped at Milton Keynes Gravel Pit seeing 5 Little Ringed Plovers, 6 Greenshank, 3 Dunlin and 3 Common Sandpipers.

1986

In Ecuador escorting  a small group on a Twickenham Travel wildlife tour, 19 new birds seen today.

1997

On a sound recording trip to Italy, to Stelvio National Park in the Alps.

2020

Booked a visit to Slimbridge, but the good birds had gone. On my visit to the Rushy, Tack Piece and South Lake, I did see c220 Black-tailed Godwits, c30 Dunlin, 2 Knot still with some summer plumage, 10 Green Sandpipers, 2 Ruff, a few Avocets, a Greenshank and 2 Little Egrets.
