A day at Chew Valley Lake seeing c250 Black Terns, 4 Garganey, 2 Common and 5 Green Sandpipers, a Little Stint, 3 Ruff, 15 Ringed Plovers, 9 Dunlin, 9 Little Ringed Plovers - the highest CVL count for this species, a Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshank, a Snipe, a Kingfisher and a Yellow Wagtail.
1979
A visit to Chew Valley Lake seeing 2 Ruff, 10 Greenshank, 2 Spotted Redshanks, 11 Common and 4 Green Sandpipers, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, 8 Oystercatchers, 13 Ruddy Ducks, a Garganey, a Black-necked Grebe, 11 Black Terns and 4 Little Gulls.
2000
A brief visit to Chew Valley Lake seeing a Little Egret and a Wood Sandpiper.
2005
In the garden in Portishead when a Honey Buzzard flew over being mobbed by Herring Gulls. Later, on a visit to New Passage I saw 13 Wheatears, a Whinchat and among the few waders present, a Whimbrel.

A visit to the Lake Grounds on the seafront in Portishead, where there was an adult Mediterranean Gull and a Little Egret.
A visit to Chew Valley Lake where there were 3 Little Egrets, 3 Greenshank, 4 Black-tailed Godwits, a Ruff, 2 Green Sandpipers, a Wood Sandpiper and a Peregrine. At Blagdon Lake there were lots of ducks including an adult and a juvenile Ferruginous Duck and an eclipse male Ring-necked Duck. At Barrow Tanks/Reservoirs there was a moulting adult Black-necked Grebe.
