
On the 10th December:
1977
A visit to Sand Bay where in the spartina grass on the beach we saw 25+ Snipe and a Jack Snipe, by the water were 10+ Curlew, a Grey Plover, a few Redshank, c100 Dunlin, and, in the trees at the top of the beach a Brambling with a flock of c60 Chaffinches.
1978
A visit to Clevedon Harbour seeing c6 Snipe, a Jack Snipe, c20 Redshank, c200 Golden Plover, 800+ Lapwing, 50+ Linnets, c35 Twite, 30+ Chaffinches, 25+ Skylarks, a Redpoll and 2 Stonechats. Later, we went to Berrow, but the Shore Lark seemed to have gone, we did see another Jack Snipe, 6-7,000 Dunlin, 12 Ringed Plovers, 10 Bar-tailed Godwits, c30 Oystercatchers, c60 Curlew, 25+ Common Gulls and an immature Kittiwake.
1993
In Australia on a sound recording trip, 5 new birds and a new mammal seen today.
