On the 28th November:

1976

1982

A day at Frampton-on-Severn, starting by the river where we saw c1500 Dunlin, 3 Grey Plovers, 20 Wigeon, 3 Bewick's Swans, 100+ White-fronted Geese and at least 6 Curlews. Then we went to Court Lake seeing c200 Tufted Ducks, c10 Pochard, c20 Gadwall, 50+ Mallard, a male and female Mandarin Duck, c250 Teal, 4 Great Crested Grebes, a Water Rail and a Green Sandpiper. 

We returned to the river where extra to earlier sightings we saw a Little Stint and an immature Kittiwake

An overnight drive to Humberside, seeing a Barn Owl on the way, to Stone Creek where there were two new British birds for us, a Great White Egret and a Green Heron.

Also seen were 6 Redshank, 2 Grey Plovers, 50+ Lapwings, a Black-tailed Godwit, a Ruff, c10 Golden Plovers and a Corn Bunting.

On the way back we stopped at Gibraltar Point seeing the immature male American Redstart again, also 2 Yellowhammers, a Bar-tailed Godwit, c100 Dunlin, c40 Redshank, a Grey Plover, 50+ Curlew, c1200 Pink-footed Geese, 2 Snow Buntings, 5 Siskins and 4 Twite.

A visit to Portbury Wharf seeing the usual birds and on the foreshore a Short-eared Owl.

2018

A visit to Slimbridge with Roy Smith, who was visiting from Toronto, we saw c50 Bewick's Swans, 15 White-fronted Geese, 800+ Lapwing, 150+ Golden Plovers, 3 Dunlin, 17 Cranes with 2 non-ringed birds, a Marsh Harrier, a Water Rail, lots of duck including 600+ Wigeon, 4 Redshank, c25 Curlew, a Snipe and a Jack Snipe.
