On the 7th March:

1976

A day out in north Somerset, between Bridgewater and Western Zoyland we saw 77 Golden Plover, around 120 Fieldfare and 46 Redwings, on the South Levels were 72 Bewick's Swans and a flock of 30 Tree Sparrows. Moving north we saw 19 more Bewick's Swans and 32 more Golden Plovers on Tealham Moor, at Cheddar Reservoir there was a Slavonian Grebe and a male and 3 female Scaup.

Calling in at Chew Valley Lake on the way back to Bristol, the best birds were 35 Ruff, and, a Little Owl at Chew Magna.

1982

2004

A brief visit to Portbury Wharf where there were the usual birds and a female Merlin.

2018

A male Blackcap in the garden in Portishead, then a visit to Aust Warth to try to see a Short-eared Owl. Although there was an owl in the grass, it remained hidden from my view, but did see 4 Kestrels, Stonechats, Meadow Pipits, Skylarks with several singing and 7 Curlew flew over calling to each other.
