On the 15th September:

1974

Staying in Weymouth, our first stop was Ferrybridge where we saw the Tawny Pipit again, also Common Tern, Little Gull and Ruff. 

Around the bill on Portland was an immature Barred Warbler, a new bird for us, also Yellow Wagtail, Spotted Flycatcher, Whinchat and Wheatear. Then a drive to Radipole Lake where the best was Little Gull. Back on Portland there were now 2 Wrynecks and more new birds, 5 Ortolan Buntings, also seen were Turtle Dove, Pied Flycatcher and Garden Warbler.

1975

Overnight at Cley, in the morning it was still a bit windy, but, still did the walk to Blakeney Point, on the way seeing a Velvet Scoter on the sea, a Barred Warbler and a Wheatear along the track. At the point there were 2 more Wheatears, a Pied Flycatcher and a Redstart. On the way back we saw lots of Gannets and 2 Arctic Skuas. On a sea-watch from the beach at Cley we saw a Red-necked Grebe, a new bird for us, and, another Leach's Petrel.

Later, we went to Holkham Woods seeing 4 Willow Tits, 4 Pied Flycatchers, 4 Spotted Flycatchers, 3 Whinchats and a Wheatear. At nearby Wells harbour there were lots of waders including at least 3 Little Stints and 3 Bar-tailed Godwits.

1979

A day at Chew Valley Lake seeing 3 Little Stints, 4 Redshank, 8 Dunlin, 2 Ringed Plovers, 6 Green Sandpipers, a Bar-tailed Godwit, a Ruff, 22 Greenshank, 22 Spotted Redshank, 14 Snipe, 9 Ruddy Ducks, 3 Pintail, 3 Yellow Wagtails and 2 Weasels.

1981

On a recce tour of Spain, no new birds seen today.

1982

Leading a Wingspan tour to Turkey, 4 new birds seen today.

1983

Leading a Wingspan Tour to Western Turkey.

1988

On a filming trip to the Bosphorus, Turkey.

1993

On a birding trip to Spain.

1996

An evening trip to Chew Valley Lake to see a Citrine Wagtail, a new British bird for me. It was seen at the back of Herons Green pool and although seen well, it would disappear into the reeds on occasions, seen feeding on midges  around the reeds and from leaves higher up their stems, also along the waterside.

1998

On a filming and sound recording trip to Zimbabwe, 1 new bird seen today.

2011

A visit to Chew Valley Lake where there were 8+ Little Egrets, a Spoonbill, 8 Ringed Plovers, 4 Dunlin and a Pectoral Sandpiper.

2018

A visit to Cheddar Reservoir to see a Grey Phalarope. Then a tour around the north levels, only seeing a Wheatear, 2 Yellow Wagtails and a Great White Egret. At Chew Valley Lake there were 3 Great White Egrets, a Green Sandpiper and a Kingfisher.
