On the 26th August:
1978
A return to Steart where the immature Wilson's Phalarope was still on show, also seen were 2 Greenshank, 8 Redshank, 4 Spotted Redshank, lots of Dunlin and Ringed Plovers, 3 Knot, 8 Sanderling, a Curlew Sandpiper, lots of Curlew, 8 Whimbrel, lots of Yellow Wagtails, 2 Whinchats, 3 Stonechats and 5 Wheatears.

Wilson's Phalarope.
1979
A day at Chew Valley Lake seeing 16 Greenshank, 9 Spotted Redshank, 11 Common and 5 Green Sandpipers, a Redshank, 15 Dunlin, 5 Ringed Plovers, 3 Little Ringed Plovers, an adult Little Stint, 4 Ruff, 2 Snipe, a Garganey, a Black-necked Grebe, 5 Black Terns, 4 Kingfishers, a Cuckoo and lots of warblers including 3 Garden Warblers.
1996
On Cape Clear Island, where on a walk around the farm and moorland I saw a Merlin, 6 Chough, a Sparrowhawk, several Common Lizards, 11 Ravens, a Peregrine, 10 Curlew and several warblers. Joining the others for an evening sea-watch we saw Gannets, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Manx Shearwaters, 2 Cory's Shearwaters, 3 Porpoises and 3 Common Dolphins - a new mammal for me.
