On the 9th May:

1976

Back at Chew Valley Lake where we only covered the north and east shores, seeing 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 5 Sedge Warblers, 3 Willow Warblers, 9 Reed Warblers, 4 Grasshopper Warblers, heard a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, a Tree Sparrow, a Whitethroat, a Sparrowhawk and the pair of Blue-headed Wagtails.

From there to Blagdon Lake where the best were 2 Ruff and 2 Whimbrel. After, a drive around the Mendips where the best was a Corn Bunting.

1978

A visit to Frampton-on-Severn, by the river we saw 13 Bar-tailed Godwits, 6 Redshank, 2 Greenshank, a Black Tern and 2 Yellow Wagtails. At the back of Court Pool we saw 5 singing Nightingales and possibly 3 females.

1981

Our first day in Ontario, 22 new birds and a new mammal seen today.

1982

Leading a Wingspan Bird Tour to Point Pelee in southern Ontario.

1985

In Tunisia, no new birds seen today.

1988

In North Carolina on a sound recording trip, 1 new bird and a new mammal seen today.

1994

An evening trip to Inglestone Common where I heard 3 Blackcaps, 3 Tawny Owls, 2 Nightingales, a Cuckoo, a Roe Deer and saw a Little Owl.

1997

On a filming and sound recording trip to the Ukraine for a series called 'Living Europe'.
