On the 28th April:

1979

A drive to Portland on a warm, sunny day, where we saw 39 Willow Warblers, 11 Chiffchaffs, a Cuckoo, 8 Wheatears, 6 Redstarts, a Turtle Dove, a Yellow Wagtail, a Yellowhammer, a Whitethroat, a Lesser Whitethroat, a Blackcap and lots of finches mainly Linnets.

At Radipole Lake there were 2 Reed Warblers, Bearded Tits, 4 Cetti's Warblers, a Grasshopper Warbler with another heard, 3 Sedge Warblers, 2 Blackcaps, a Whitethroat and a Swift.

1984

Leading a Wingspan/Ibis Bird Tour to Spain. 1 new bird seen today.

1985

In Tunisia, no new birds seen today.

1988

In Florida on a sound recording trip, 2 new birds and 1 new reptile seen today.

1996

A return to Westhay with John Rossetti, where the Purple Heron was on show again, also lots of martins, Swallows and Swifts, 7 species of warblers, 2 Cuckoos, but only a single Whimbrel.

Returning via Chew Valley Lake, we saw c500 Swifts over the lake, a Little Ringed Plover, a Common Tern and a Sparrowhawk.

1997

A flight to Kiev in Ukraine to begin a filming and sound recording trip for a series called 'Living Europe'.

2006

A trip to Chew Valley Lake where there was a Whiskered Tern, also high over the lake c1000 Swifts. Also see here.

2013

A visit to Battery Point where there were only 2 Purple Sandpipers remaining. Also see here

2017

A visit to Portbury Wharf where there were lots of warblers including a Lesser Whitethroat, also a Whinchat, a Bullfinch and a Little Ringed Plover.

2019

An afternoon visit to Northwick Warth/Pilning Wetlands were I eventually had good views of a 1st summer female Citrine Wagtail, in the same area were several Pied, 2 White, 3 Yellow and 2 Channel Wagtails. Also seen were several Reed Warblers, 2 Reed Buntings, c10 House Martins, 2 Wheatears and a male Garganey.
