On the 24th August:

1975

The morning spent at Minsmere seeing a Marsh Harrier, lots of Reed Warblers, a Wheatear, a Whinchat, 2 Tree Sparrows, a Cuckoo, the Red-necked Phalarope again and there were now 15 Curlew Sandpipers, also 65 Dunlin, 33 Ringed Plovers, c20 Ruff, a Greenshank, 25 Spotted Redshank, 16 Redshank, 10 Common Sandpipers, 6 Little Stints, 7 Avocets, 34 Snipe, 3 Sanderling, a Black-tailed Godwit, a Green Sandpiper, a Little Ringed Plover, a Wood Sandpiper, 2 Little Gulls and 6 Spoonbills, new birds for us.

Then we went to Walberwick where we saw a Little Stint and 3 more Curlew Sandpipers, next to the gravel pits at Ling seeing 4 Egyptian Geese, then north to Cley where we only had time for a quick look around, seeing 3 Little Gulls, 3 Black Terns, 2 Chilean Flamingoes, 18 Common Sandpipers, a Coypu and 4 Noctule Bats. Overnight at the 'barn' at Cley.

1980

A return to Chew Valley Lake seeing much the same as yesterday, including the Little Stint and Ring-necked Duck, new in was a male Scaup.

2003

A visit to Chew Valley Lake where there was a female Blue-winged Teal, a Ferruginous Duck, a Ruddy Shelduck, an Egyptian Goose as well as the usual ducks. Also 2 Greenshank, 2 Snipe, 40+ Lapwing and a Kingfisher.
