On the 12th April:

1980

An evening visit to Chew Valley Lake where the best was a Little Ringed Plover on the dam, also we saw the female Smew, a Redpoll and a late Redwing.

1981

Overnight on Portland and a better morning, there were lots of chiff/willows around, but we started with a seawatch seeing 6 Red-throated Divers, an Arctic Skua, 5 Common Scoter, 4 Velvet Scoter,

2 Puffins, a Sandwich Tern and only 1 Purple Sandpiper.

Around the fields we found 4 Slow Worms and saw the Hoopoe again, also a male Woodchat Shrike and a male and a female Pied Flycatcher.

Later we went to Lodmoor where there was a male Garganey, 3 Cetti's Warblers, a Yellow Wagtail, 3 Greenshank and a pair of Stonechats.

Our last stop was Radipole Lake seeing a 1st summer Ring-billed Gull and 2 Common sandpipers.

1982

Overnight in the New Forest, in the morning we drove to Portland to see a Savannah Sparrow, a 1st British record.

Also on Portland we saw a Short-eared Owl, a Whinchat, 16 Wheatears, 42 Willow Warblers, 3 Chiffchaffs, 14 Corn Buntings, 2 Grasshopper Warblers, 2 Black Redstarts, 4 Redstarts, 2 White Wagtails and 4 Blackcaps. 

On the way home we called in at Lodmoor where we saw 3 male and a female Garganey, 2 Yellow and 3 White Wagtails, a Wheatear, a Greenshank, 2 Snipe, 2 Bearded Tits and 3 Cetti's Warblers.

2003

A visit to Portbury Wharf, along the lane were 9 Chiffchaffs, 4 Willow Warblers, 2 Green Woodpeckers and a male Redstart. On the pool with other ducks was the long staying male Ring-necked Duck, and on the foreshore with a few other waders were 3 Whimbrel.

2004

In the garden in Portishead were 3 Siskins. Later I walked from Channel View Farm to the River Yeo seeing 11+ Chiffchaffs, 2 Blackcaps, 4 Willow Warblers, c20 Linnets, c30 Meadow Pipits, 6 Little Egrets, 2 Oystercatchers, 8 Curlew, 60+ Shelduck, c50 Teal, 2 Redshank, 2 Knot, 4 Lapwing, a Whimbrel flew over, as did a Tree Pipit. There were lots of Skylarks, a Cetti's Warbler, a Bullfinch and a Sparrowhawk.

2016

A visit to Northwick Warth where the birds of note were 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 12+ White Wagtails, 2 Little Egrets and 9 Black-tailed Godwits.
