1978
A weekend in the Weymouth area, starting at Lodmoor, where apart from lots of warblers the best was a Spotted Redshank, a Green Sandpiper, a Yellow Wagtail and a Weasel. It was quiet at Radipole Lake, but we did see a Hobby.
Then we went to Portland for an early afternoon seawatch, seeing lots of Kittiwakes, Guillemots and Fulmars, a few Razorbills, 200+ Gannets, 75+ Manx Shearwaters, c20 Common Terns, a Storm Petrel, 2 Puffins, 2 Common Scoters and coming in off the sea 7 Swifts, a Lapwing and a Hobby. From the 'Bill' we visited the Fleet at Langton Herring where the best bird was a 1st summer Little Gull.
1979
A visit to Chew Valley Lake where the best birds were 2 Garganey, a female and a moulting male.

1994
A second day in Devon, back at Halden Forest, where there were 4 Roe Deers, Turtle Dove, Yellowhammer, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Garden Warbler, Redpoll, Tree Pipit and I heard a day churring Nightjar.
On the way back to Bristol I called in on the viewing site overlooking the Avon Gorge where the pair and 3 juvenile Peregrines were giving a flying display.
