
On the 30th November:
1974
A visit to Chew Valley Lake seeing the Great Northern Diver again, also 2 Firecrests and a Barn Owl.
1975
A day around the North Somerset Levels seeing lots of common birds, then to Steart where the best bird was a Merlin.
1980
A visit to Chew Valley Lake where the best were 13 Bewick's Swans, 17 Goosanders, 370 Wigeon and a male Mandarin Duck. Then a drive to Stock Hill on the Mendips where we saw 60+ Siskins, 10 Redpolls, lots of tits including 3 Willow Tits, 3 Treecreepers, c30 Bramblings and a Crossbill.
1988
In Madagascar on a BBC sound recording trip, no new birds seen today.
1993
In Australia, on a BBC sound recording trip, 1 new bird seen today.

A visit to Slimbridge, only to the Rushy and Tack Piece seeing 20+ Bewick's Swans, 3 Little Stints, a Dunlin, a Redshank, c6 Golden Plovers, 300+ Lapwing, lots of duck including 400+ Wigeon.

2019
A visit to Slimbridge on a cold, bright day, to see a Bittern which I missed by 5 minutes! Lots of waders and geese including Lapwing, Golden Plover, Knot, Black-tailed Godwit, Dunlin, Ruff and Snipe. Distant flock of White-fronted Geese and on the Dumbles lots of Barnacle, Canada and Greylag Geese, with them a Bar-headed Goose and a distant group of 8 Pink-footed Geese. Also saw 20 Bewick's Swans and 2 Water Rails from the Willow Hide.
