On the 5th September:
1976
Overnight at Cley, in the morning a walk to Blakeney Point, seeing a good selection of waders and terns, 3 Arctic Skuas, c200 Common Seals and finding a female Kentish Plover. We drove to Ling Gravel Pits where there were 9 Egyptian Geese, then on to Benacre Broad, where again there was a good selection of waders including a Red-necked Phalarope, also a Marsh Harrier and 44 Red-legged Partridges.

On a recce tour of Spain, 1 new bird today.

The windy weather continued and we returned to Chew Valley Lake, where we saw 3 Little Gulls, 5 Arctic Terns, 5 Black Terns,
2 Shags, a Gannet, a Manx Shearwater, a Spotted Redshank, a Water Rail and 2 Spotted Crakes.
