1977
1978
A visit to Slimbridge where we saw c1500 White-fronted Geese, 2 Brent Geese, a Bean Goose, c300 Bewick's Swans, c1000 Wigeon, c100 Pintail, 50+ Curlew and 6,000+ Starlings.
1981
A visit to Slimbridge where we saw c800 of the 4200 White-fronted Geese that were there, 2 adult Lesser White-fronted Geese, 50+ Bewick's Swans, 2000+ Wigeon and lots of other ducks.
1986
On holiday in California, no new birds seen today.
1995
A visit to Chew Valley Lake where there were lots of duck including the male White-headed Duck from last month, also a Water Pipit.
2004
A visit to Avonmouth Sewage Works to film wintering Chiffchaffs, I saw 4 birds together, they favoured feeding around a storm drain, which they occasionally disappeared into, also in the bushes around the drain. As the sun got lower a couple of them sat in the open preening and sunning themselves, then one by one flew down and dropped into the drain to roost.
