On the 25th November:

1979

A drive to Kenfig Pools in South Wales, to see a reported Lesser Crested Tern which was re-identified as a Royal Tern, but it had gone. However, we did see a Whooper Swan, 20 Goldeneyes, a Scaup, c100 Pochard, 30+ Teal, 10+ Shoveler, 10+ Gadwall and an immature Kittiwake. On the beach were lots of waders including c200 Golden Plovers, 100+ Dunlin and a Purple Sandpiper. On the way home we called in at Eglwys Nunydd Reservoir where the best was a Merlin

1984

A visit to Slimbridge seeing 450 White-fronted Geese, 140 Bewick's Swans, 2700 Wigeon, 100 Pintail, c50 Gadwall, 500 Pochard, 500 Teal, Tufted Ducks, 50 Snipe, 3000 Lapwing, 400+ Curlew, 2000 Dunlin, 2 Little Stints, a Long-billed Dowitcher, 2 Ruff, 20+ Redshank, a Peregrine and a Water Vole.

1988

In Madagascar on a BBC sound recording trip, no new birds seen today.

1993

In Australia, on a BBC sound recording trip, 4 new birds seen today.

2009

A rush to Severn Beach where there was a reported Black-bellied or White-bellied Storm Petrel, but, it had disappeared and didn't show again. However, I did see 2 Leach's Petrels, 50+ Kittiwakes, a Pomarine Skua, 35+ Turnstone, 20+ Curlew and c30 Dunlin.
