On the 13th September:

1975

Overnight at Cley, in the morning we walked to Blakeney Point seeing 6 Fulmars, at least 1 Arctic Tern, lots of Common and Sandwich Terns, a Great Skua, 8 Gannets, 2 Common Scoter, 9 Grey Plovers, a few other waders, 4 Wheatears, 3 Brown Hares and 95 Common Seals. The pools at Cley were quite, so we went to Weybourne where we saw a Glaucous Gull, 3 Fulmars and an Arctic Skua.

1977

An evening trip to Chew Valley Lake where we saw 4 Common and 2 Green Sandpipers, 7 Spotted Redshank, 18 Snipe, 4 Greenshank, 2 Ruff, a Knot and found a Grey Phalarope.

Later, at the Ringing Station we were shown a Spotted Crake that they had trapped.

1980

A moderately windy day with the wind increasing, we drove to Steart where we saw 40+ Manx Shearwaters, 100+ Curlew, 40+ Redshank, a Golden Plover, 4 Black-tailed and 2 Bar-tailed Godwits, a Ruff, lots of Dunlin and Ringed Plovers, 4 Knot, 3 Sanderling, a Chilean Flamingo and a Peregrine. 

Then we drove to Bull Point, near Woolacombe, where we saw 30 more Manx Shearwaters, a Gannet, a Kittiwake, a Great Skua, 3 Fulmars and a Raven. On the way back we stopped at Porlock Marsh to look for a reported Laughing Gull, but it had gone.

On a recce tour of Spain, 1 new mammal seen today.

1982

Leading a Wingspan tour to Turkey, 2 new birds seen today.

1983

Leading a Wingspan Tour to Western Turkey, 1 new bird seen today.

1993

On a birding trip to Spain.

1998

On a filming and sound recording trip to Zimbabwe, a new mammal seen today.

2014

A visit to Slimbridge seeing 10 Ruff, 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 3 Green Sandpipers, a Snipe, 3 Little Egrets, 2 Peregrines, lots of Chiffchaffs and a Spotted Flycatcher.

A visit to Slimbridge, to the Rushy Hide where there was a juvenile Little Ringed Plover, 3 Ruff, a Redshank and an Avocet.
