On the 27th December:
1976
A day at Slimbridge seeing c1800 White-fronted Geese, c400 Bewick's Swans, a Brent Goose, 2 Bean Geese probably Taiga, 2 Bar-headed Geese, a Barnacle Goose and finding an adult Lesser White-fronted Goose. There were also 100+ Curlew, c20 Dunlin and c300 Wigeon.

1979
An overnight drive to Seahouses on the Northumberland coast to see an Ivory Gull, but it had gone! We did see lots of gulls and Kittiwakes including a 1st winter Glaucous Gull, also seen were Gannets, Fulmars, a Long-tailed Duck, 12 Purple Sandpipers, lots of other waders, c20 Common Scoter and a Great Skua. Then a drive west, across the country, to Irvine on the coast of the Firth of Clyde.
1986
On holiday in California, no new birds seen today.
2000
A visit to Chew Valley Lake seeing lots of duck and gulls, including an immature male Smew.
