On the 8th November:
1980
A visit to Sand Bay where along the top of the beach we saw 400+ Chaffinches, 4 Bramblings, lots of Redwings, 25 Fieldfares, 6 Reed Buntings, 30 Goldfinches and 4 Water Pipits.
1987
In Ontario, mainly on holiday, with a couple days recording for the BBC. No new birds seen today.

In Madagascar on a BBC sound recording trip, 2 new birds and a new reptile seen today.

In Hong Kong, 1 new bird seen today.
2004
The day started with a Peregrine flying over the garden in Portishead and a Fieldfare sat in the tree. Then a walk from Channel View Farm south to the River Yeo seeing good numbers of duck and waders, 3 Little Egrets, 3 Snow Buntings and a Merlin.
