1976
An early start for a weekend in the Weymouth/Portland area, on the drive there we saw a Barn Owl. On Portland we started with a seawatch seeing lots of Guillemots and Kittiwakes, Fulmars, 2 Razorbills, 2 Gannets, an Oystercatcher, 2 Sandwich Terns, 20 comic Terns, 4 Manx Shearwaters, 4 Puffins, 3 Eiders, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits, 4 Purple Sandpipers and 10 Common Scoter. Away from the bill there were lots of Swallows, c25 Chiffchaffs, 8 Wheatears, a Whitethroat, a Garden Warbler, 2 Stonechats, 3 Willow Warblers and
c15 Corn Buntings.
Then we went to Ferrybridge where there were c35 Bar-tailed Godwits, a Whimbrel, 4 Little, 6 Common and 4 Sandwich Terns, a few Dunlin and Ringed Plovers and 5 Wheatears. Back at the bill the evening seawatch produced 3 Manx Shearwaters, c40 Common Scoters and 2 Little Gulls.

A visit to Leigh Woods seeing a Wood Warbler and hearing another, 2 Nuthatches, 2 Marsh Tits, a Willow Warbler and watching the female Hawfinch feeding on the ground, she seemed unconcerned at the noise coming from a group of nearby children, then flew up and returned to the nest.
1978
An overnight drive to Porthgwarra, Cornwall but the Great Spotted Cuckoo we had come to see had gone! We did see 4 Cuckoos, a Whitethroat, a Spotted Flycatcher, 6 Stonechats, a Raven and on the sea 4 Gannets and 4 Fulmars. On the way back we stopped at Marazion Marsh where there was a Wood Sandpiper, 5 Dunlin and 2 Grey Herons.
1983
The second day of our long weekend at Portland started cold, wet and windy, but there was lots to see around the bill with 10 Turtle Doves, 5 Lesser Whitethroats, 30 Willow Warblers, 6 Sedge Warblers, 7 Corn Buntings, 6 Spotted Flycatchers, 30 Whinchats, 7 Blackcaps, 10 Whitethroats, 8 Redstarts, 14 Wheatears, 3 Garden Warblers, 2 Chiffchaffs and 14 Swifts.
We did a seawatch from 1 to just passed 2pm seeing 39 Gannets, a Sandwich Tern, 143 Manx Shearwaters, Kittiwakes, 12 Guillemots, 18 more Swifts, 40+ Fulmars, 3 Razorbills, 23 Purple Sandpipers, 3 Puffins, a Whimbrel, 5 more Turtle Doves and an Arctic Skua.
Then we went to Lodmoor where there were 10 Sandwich, 12 Little and 2 Black Terns, 50+ Dunlin, 3 Bar-tailed Godwits, 6 Whimbrel, a Sanderling, 3 Yellow Wagtails and in with the flock of 50+ Black-headed Gulls a Common Gull and 5 1st summer Mediterranean Gulls.

A visit to Severn Beach where along the shore were c280 Dunlin, c30 Ringed Plovers, a Little Stint, a Whimbrel, c60 Bar-tailed Godwits, a Wheatear and in the distance moving up river a flock of c200 probable Arctic Terns.
2007
A visit to Battery Point in Portishead seeing a Whimbrel, 7 Swifts, an Arctic Tern, a Kittiwake, 2 Purple Sandpipers, 2 Rock Pipits and a Garden Warbler.
