On the 24th November:

1974

A visit to Chew Valley Lake where the Great Northern Diver and female Smew were still there, we also saw 4 Goosanders, a Ruddy Duck, a Kingfisher and 11 Dunlin.

1979

Another visit to Chew Valley Lake where the Greater Sandplover was still there, also seen were 7 Bearded Tits, 6 Goosanders, 116 Dunlin, 9 Water Pipits, a Smew, a Pink-footed Goose and a Little Owl.

1981

A drive to Devon, to Countess Weir near Exeter, to see a Hudsonian Godwit, a new bird for us and a 2nd British record. The bird was moulting into winter plumage and associating with 2 Black-tailed Godwits and 3 Oystercatcher. Also seen were 2 Kingfishers, a Siskin and a Water Pipit.

1988

In Madagascar on a BBC sound recording trip, no new birds seen today.

1993

In New Zealand on a BBC sound recording trip, no new birds seen today.
