On the 8th September:

1975

Overnight at Stithians Reservoir, in the morning we saw 6 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Common and 3 Green Sandpipers, a Wood Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank, c50 Dunlin, 11 Little Stints, 14 Ringed Plovers,4 Ruff, lots of Lapwing, c90 Golden Plovers and c10 Snipe.

Then we went to Marazion Marsh where there were Reed and Sedge Warblers, and, another Little Stint. On the beach were 28 Turnstone, 7 Dunlin, 9 Ringed Plovers, 20 Sanderling and a Bar-tailed Godwit.

1979

A day at Chew Valley Lake seeing 2 immature White-winged Black Terns, 8 Black Terns, 16 Common Terns, 3 immature Little Gulls, 5 Common and 4 Green Sandpipers, a Wood Sandpiper, 3 Curlew Sandpipers, 20 Greenshank, a Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Dunlin, 7 Ringed Plovers, 9 Ruff, a Snipe and 2 Spotted Flycatchers.

1980

A late afternoon and evening return to Chew Valley Lake, the 2 Pectoral Sandpipers were still there, one in the original location of Twycross, the other flying around the lake visiting several other bays. Also seen were 7 Greenshank, 5 Common and 10 Green Sandpipers, 16 Spotted Redshank, a Ruff, 2 Little Stints, 8 Dunlin, 27 Ringed Plovers, 3 Little Ringed Plovers, 10 Snipe, 11 Wigeon, 14 Black Terns and 2 Common Terns.

1981

On a recce tour of Spain, 1 new bird seen today.

1993

On a birding trip to Spain.

1994

A two day trip with Bob Richardson, firstly to Prawl Point where it was quite, a few seabirds with Gannets, Shags and Fulmars seen, also 2 distant large shearwaters. The best onshore were 8 Yellow Wagtails. 

We continued west to Stithians Reservoir where we saw 8 Curlew Sandpipers, 12 Dunlin, 5 Ringed Plovers, 8 Snipe, a few Lapwing, 7 Ruff, 2 Common Sandpipers and a Pied-billed Grebe.

Later, we drove west to Porthgwarra where we did an evening sea-watch, seeing a Sooty Shearwater, 2 Manx Shearwaters and a Balearic Shearwater.

1995

A visit to Chew Valley Lake seeing a Hobby, lots of duck, c50 Lapwing, 6 Greenshank, 9 Snipe, a Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Common and 5 Green Sandpipers, 6 Knot, 2 Little Ringed Plovers, a Little Egret, 5 Black Terns, a Spotted Crake and 2 Whinchats.

1998

On a filming and sound recording trip to Zimbabwe, 7 new birds and a new mammal seen today.

2006

A visit to Portishead seafront where there was a Mediterranean Gull.

2007

A visit to Portbury Wharf where there was a Common Sandpiper, 10 Little Grebes and a male Ring-necked Duck.
