On the 13th August:

1977

A long drive north to pools between Teesside and Seaton Carewe to see a Bonaparte's Gull, a new bird for us. Also seen there were c60 Dunlin, c15 Ruff, 5 Ringed Plovers, a Curlew Sandpiper, 3 Little Stints and 3 Common Terns.

From Teesside we drove south to Wisbech Sewage Farm where we saw 11 Wood Sandpipers, an Egyptian Goose, 6+ Common and 2 Green Sandpipers, 4 Dunlin, 2 Little Stints and a Hobby. From there to Cley where we spent the night.

Bonaparte's Gull, LAT, Teesside, 13-8-77

1981

An evening visit to Chew Valley Lake where there was a juvenile White-winged Black Tern, also c20 Black Terns and a Spotted Redshank.

1983

Overnight at Cley, in the morning on a walk along the beach towards Blakeney Point we saw 5 Manx Shearwaters, c180 Bar-tailed Godwits, c33 Knot, c20 Sanderling, 4 Arctic Skuas, a Great Skua, c50 Dunlin, 10+ Gannets, 30 Ringed Plovers, c15 Kittiwakes, 3 Fulmars, 60+ Sandwich, 15+ Common and 4 Little Terns.

Returning to Cley we then drove to Titchwell where the highlights were 4 Spoonbills, 4 Curlew Sandpipers, a Little Stint, a Marsh Harrier, 3 Garganey, several Turtle Doves and 5+ Bearded Tits.

2000

A visit to Shapwick, seeing a Little Egret near Westhay on the way. At the reserve there were c250 Lapwing, 2 Wood Sandpipers, 2 Green Sandpipers, a Kingfisher and lots of warblers.
