
On the 23rd November:
1980
1988
The day started at Chew Valley Lake seeing 11 Bewick's Swans, 27 Goosanders, a Scaup and lots of other ducks. Also, c40 Snipe, 22 Dunlin, 2 Kingfishers, a Tawny Owl, and flying over 6 Redpolls, 30 Siskins and lots of Redwings and Fieldfares.
Later, we drove south to Orchardleigh Park where we saw 11 Nuthatches, 2 Treecreepers, 2 Marsh Tits, 23 Siskins and on the lake 2 immature male Ring-necked Ducks.
In Madagascar on a BBC sound recording trip, no new birds seen today.

In New Zealand on a BBC sound recording trip, 1 new bird seen today.

Blue Duck.

1995
We spent the early morning recording waders at Snettisham, where there was an increase in Pink-footed Geese, around 10,000 birds. Later, we went to Holkham, covering the woods, beach and marsh, with the best being a Peregrine, a female Hen Harrier, 5,000+ Wigeon, c600 Pink-footed Geese and several Marsh Tits. We continued to Titchwell where we saw the same or a different female Hen Harrier, waders including 600+ Golden Plovers and 30+ Ruff, also 5 Little Egrets, 18 Snow Buntings, and on the sea Common Scoter and Velvet Scoter.
2013
A visit to Chew Valley Lake where there was a Black-throated Diver, also seeing, a Kingfisher, the usual duck including 2 Goldeneye, a Little Egret and 2 Pink-footed Geese.
